Annie Slater is a compassionate and dedicated psychologist who provides client centred care. She has been devoted to the field of mental health for over 18 years, offering her professional help to others throughout their life journey. Her caring nature has made her a trusted partner in counselling, and she believes in the power of self-reflection, openness, and optimism for positive change. Annie is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment that encourages growth and understanding; embracing clients with unconditional acceptance to make lasting improvements in their lives. Annie welcomes all clients of all backgrounds into therapy.


She has worked in a range of settings throughout her career providing psychological assessment and treatment. She has worked with young people in Out of Home Care supported in residential services, addressing developmental trauma, and at Family and Community Services providing early intervention services for families. Annie has experience providing treatment in residential drug and alcohol services. Annie has also worked in both primary and high school settings providing school-based counselling. For the past seven years she has focused on growing her private practice to provide psychological support to clients Australia wide via online and phone services.


Annie is an energetic and passionate mental health professional with a wide range of clinical skills. She is trained in multiple therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TI-CBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement and Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Art and Play Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Annie strives to provide evidence-based treatment that are tailored to the individual needs of each client.


Annie has an extensive background in the treatment of complex trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), gender diversity, gender dysphoria, substance and alcohol dependence and more. She is dedicated to providing her clients with trauma-informed care in order to promote healing and personal growth. With an understanding of anxiety, depression, and attachment difficulties that often accompany her areas of expertise Annie has the comprehensive skillset to develop highly individualised treatment plans tailored to each individual client's needs.


Annie has developed the skills necessary to carry out comprehensive psychological assessments. Annie can diagnose Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, Intellectual Disability (ID), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders and other psychological difficulties. Her empathetic and perceptive nature allows her to create meaningful therapeutic relationships with her clients, while creating an environment of trust and understanding. In addition to clinical practice Annie is also an experienced board approved supervisor who values learning and inspiring professional growth among her colleagues. She facilitates a range of group supervision topics for clinicians. She also provides supervision services to other supervisors regarding their supervisory roles. She is the Director of The Provisional Psychologist Network, which provides support to those undertaking the journey towards registration and endorsement as a psychologist.


Annie also has a special interest in providing mental health treatment to other mental health professionals, and working with LGBTI+ community.
